Rise: Voice of a New Generation spends a year following the students and coaches of One Stone, one of the most progressive schools in America. If these kids are the future, the future is bright.
One Stone is a student-run independent high school in Boise Ohio. At One Stone, two-thirds of the board members are students, and students are expected to be responsible for their learning. Students are guided by the coaches whose mission is to help students chart their paths of learning.
RISE is a 50-minute documentary film that depicts the lives of students at One Stone. This film will teach us how students find agency when they are allowed to pursue their passion in safe and nurturing learning environment.
After the film screening, we will welcome Jun Campion (One Stone Coach) and Sophia Bronner (One Stone Student) to Q&A. The Zoom Link will be e-mailed to the participants a day prior to the event.

Emi Takemura is a Co-Founder and Representative Director of two education organizations based in Japan. FutureEdu advocates the future of education in K-12 space through film screenings, articles, and workshops. Learn by Creation offers events and a community where people across traditional boundaries gather and reimagine learning.
Before pivoting to education, Emi was a veteran in the internet space with work experience at Excite, Amazon, and Disney. She also co-founded an event management startup, Peatix, with over 10 million registered members in 27 countries.
