Wharton SoCal Tennis – Liveball – Pacific Palisades – Sat 8/15 @1PM
Please join Wharton SoCal Tennis for our first event at the Palisades Tennis Center. Do you love to play tennis but crave something more social or cardio-focused? This event is for you! We’ll be hosting up to four Liveball sessions for beginner, intermediate, and advanced players, with a maximum of eight players on each court. Participants must bring their own racket and understand basic tennis fundamentals (a minimum USTA level of 2.5 is required). Come as early as 1PM to check-in, say hi, and warm up. Play will begin promptly at 1:30PM.
There will also be prizes! We have Kith x Wilson swag, tennis balls, and pickleball paddles (boo).
August 15, 2026 is also the grand reopening of Palisades Village. Post-workout Erewhon smoothies anyone?

$50 per person for Wharton SoCal club members, guests, and all non-Wharton attendees. Wharton alumni are welcome to bring up to 2 guests!

What is Liveball?: Liveball is currently the hottest way to play tennis. It is a doubles “king of the court” tennis format where a coach continuously feeds balls and players compete in rotating teams. Get ready to sweat. Warning: it is highly addicting!

There is no serving

Eight players participate on each court

Two players begin on the King side and two on the Challenger side, while the remaining players wait in line behind the Challenger side

A coach starts each point with a feed

Players play out the point

Challenger team must win four points before the King team wins two to take over the King side

Losing team rotates to the back of the Challenger line

USTA Levels Explained: Once we have all the RSVPs, we will reach out to ask for your tennis level so that we have similar levels on each court. Please see below to help clarify your tennis ability. Liveball coaches reserve the right to move players between courts as needed to make the day more fun.

2.5 (Advanced Beginner): You can rally at a slow pace for backcourt rallies. Rallies typically only last about three shots. Volleys are a work in progress.

3.0 (Low Intermediate): You can hit reliable medium-paced shots with moderate consistency but lack control over depth, power or direction. This is the most common entry level for competitive recreational leagues.

3.5 (Intermediate): You have achieved dependable strokes on forehands/backhands, can place shots with moderate success, and are getting comfortable at the net in doubles. This is a highly populated league level.

4.0 (Advanced Intermediate): Your strokes are highly dependable, you can use pace and spin effectively, and you employ distinct strategies in both singles and doubles.

4.5 – 5.0+ (Advanced): You have mastered powerful, strategic play, have excellent footwork, and can adapt your game depending on your opponent. You may be a former college player or a national-level competitor.
Prizes: Prizes will be awarded to the top-performing teams on each court.
Food: Water and snacks will be provided.
Parking: Free parking is available in the Palisades Tennis Center lot.
