The Wharton Club of Southern California is excited to invite all members and non-members and their guests to a Young Alumni Lunchtime Meet Up in Big Bear over Presidents Day weekend. Come relax after a long morning of snow skiing or snowboarding and enjoy the perfect place to relive your day on the hill at Hawks '52 in the main lodge above Oakfire Grill at Snow Summit featuring a variety of domestic and craft beers, hand-crafted cocktails, including the best Bloody Mary in SoCal.
Owing to a unique combination of physical exhaustion, post-shred elation, and atmospheric conditions, solid après sessions have been known to rival the glory of even the deepest bluebird powder days.
Hawks ’52 and the Slopeside Speakeasy at Snow Summit have been known to elicit accommodating, if not highly enjoyable, “after” experiences. Of course, there is the infamous sun-deck Laybacks Bar at Bear Mountain’s main lodge — perhaps the quintessential California après scene, where one can take in the warm sun, down a cold one, and relive the moments, both real and exaggerated, with friends and family. All said and done, most experts agree that a big part of the ski and snowboard lifestyle is not entirely dependent on technical proficiency on the slopes, but rather how tuned one’s après abilities are.
